Welcome to Valdosta’s Community Planning Month! Our theme this year is “Changing Face Of America”, which recognizes the key role planners play in envisioning the future and addressing the needs of our communities. October 6, 8:30am-11:30am, Keep Lowndes/Valdosta Beautiful’s Rivers Alive by helping clean up Valdosta’s rivers and streams. Call (229) 671-3698 for more information.

October 10, at noon, “Traffic and Tribulations” Lunch & Learn Presentation, City Annex Multi-Purpose Room, 300 N Lee Street, with Traffic Manager Kevin Tolliver as he tells you the answers to your most frequently asked questions about traffic and traveling throughout Valdosta. October 12, at 2:00pm-3:30pm, Tour of Veolia Environmental Services -Where does your trash go? Come meet us at the City Hall Annex and we will give you a lift to the Landfill. Make sure you wear your old walking shoes! Please RSVP at 229-259-3563.

October 13, 11am, Lowndes County Historical Society, 305 W Central Ave, Valdosta Through Decades. Listen to Emily Foster, Historical Preservation Planner & Donald Davis, Museum’s Executive Director, as they tell you the intriguing stories of Valdosta’s Development from 1860-2010. 

October 17, 12:30pm to 1:30pm, Tour of the Traffic Management Center, 310 East Adair Street. Meet with Transportation Manager Kevin Tolliver and Transportation Planner Corey Hull to discuss how we plan for roadway infrastructure and tour the state of the art Traffic Management Center.

October 24, 10am-3pm, Valdosta Blood Drive in the Mathis City Auditorium, 2300 North Ashley St, during the City of Valdosta Annual Health Fair. Make an impact in your community, save a life!

October 25, 7:30-8:30pm, Enjoy a movie night out in Valdosta Downtown’s Dosta Theatre as we watch the “Greenest Building”.

October 26, at noon, 327 North Ashley Street, Lowndes County Administration Building, 2nd floor, Multi-Purpose Room, Lunch and Learn Presentation regarding Moody Air Force Base, the Southern Georgia Regional Commission Joint Land Use Study and Lowndes County.
